School of Science and Technology Singapore (SST) Xin Yao (新谣) Appreciation Workshop

Intune Music Instructors, Derrick Tham, Zuo En, Sia Yeun, Terry and along with Ting Hui and Intune Music Director, Aaron Matthew Lim went over to School of Science and Technology Singapore (SST) and conducted a Xin Yao (新谣) Appreciation Workshop under NAC-AEP Programme! 

This workshop is done in a fun and interesting manner, with a short skit and song performances. Through this presentation manner, we provided the younger generation an in-depth understanding of the culture and history of Xin Yao (新谣)  which is unique and an important part of Singapore  Mandarin Music history.  



Also, this workshop aims to inspire the younger generation to like the mandarin language more and to pick up mandarin songwriting and increase the exposure of Singapore's mandarin music scene. 

We also hope that through this Xin Yao (新谣)  workshop, the audience are able to learn more about Singapore's history, school life, family, philosophy, environment, patriotism!

Raffles Institution (RI) Xinyao (新谣) Workshop!

Intune Music Directors, Aaron Matthew Lim and Peng Chi Sheng with Intune Music Instructor Tay Sia Yeun  conducted Xin Yao (新谣) Workshop at Raffles Institution!

Through this workshop, the students at Raffles Institution were being taught the rich history of Xin Yao (新谣)!

Xinyao  is a genre of songs that is unique to Singapore. It is a contemporary Mandarin vocal genre that emerged and rise to fame in Singapore between late 1970s to 1980s. Xinyao songs are composed and sung by Singaporeans and it is an outlet for them to express their thoughts and feelings around themes like friendships or love stories.

We hope that they will continue to carry and know this unique Singapore music culture for more generation on!

Presbyterian High School Songwriting and Lyric Writing Workshop!

Intune Music Directors, Peng Chi Sheng and Aaron Matthew Lim, along with Derrick Tham, conducted a  Mandarin Songwriting Workshop for the students of Presbyterian High School


In this workshop, they have shared their knowledge about the essence of songwriting and besides that Aaron Lim has also performed several pop songs Live for the students! 

Chi Sheng has also showcased several students' lyrics at the end of the workshop! 






Through this workshop, we have provided the insights of Singapore's Mandarin Pop Industry and Mandarin Songwriting to the students! We hope that we have inspired the students and spark the interest the students at Presbyterian High School!

Pei Hwa Secondary School Xin Yao (新谣) Lyric Rewriting Workshop!

Intune Music Songwriting Instructor Derrick Tham and Tay Sia Yeun went over to Pei Hwa Secondary School and conducted a 10 session Xin Yao (新谣 )  Lyrics Rewriting Workshop!





In this workshop, we have included the rich history of Xin Yao (新谣) combination with the essential lyrics writing. We hope that the younger generation will able to carry on the unique music culture of Singapore and hope that we can spark the creativity and music potential in the younger generation!

Recordings for Mandarin Originals created by Primary School Students!

Students from various schools such as St Nicholas Girls' Primary School, Huamin Primary School, Pei Ying Primary School  and North View Primary School came to Intune Music to record their mandarin originals that they have composed in the 12 hours workshop during their September School Holidays!

North View Primary School's 新谣 Xin Yao Workshop!

Intune Music Directors, Aaron Matthew Lim and Peng Chi Sheng and along with Intune Music instructors, Derrick Tham and Tay Sia Yeun conducted a 2-Day 新谣 Xin Yao Workshop at North View Primary School for the Primary 6 Students in October 2018!

新谣 Xin Yao, extended form is Xin Jia Po Ge Yao (新加坡歌谣) ( which simply means "Singapore songs). This is a genre of songs that is unique to Singapore. It is a contemporary Mandarin vocal genre that emerged and rise to fame in Singapore between late 1970s to 1980s.

Xin Yao songs are composed and sung by Singaporeans and it is an outlet for them to express their thoughts and feelings around themes like freindships or love stories. 

In this 2 day workshop, we have instilled the knowledge and history of  新谣 Xin Yao to the Primary 6 students in North View Primary School so to help them in understanding the Singapore's music culture and industry better! 

With such knowledge, we hope that we can encourage the future young generation of Singapore to be inspired to get involved and continue the music culture in Singapore!

Maris Stella Primary School iPad Garageband Workshop!

Intune Music Director, Aaron Matthew Lim and along with Intune Music instructors, Nigel and Ting Hui conducted an iPad Garageband Workshop at Maris Stella Primary School! 

With the integration of technology, most music are now digitalised!  Intune Music's iPad Garageband workshop utilized the technology and one of the useful applications in iPad to educate the students in Maris Stella Primary School in music making in a very interactive way! 

GarageBand is a line of digital audio workstations for macOS and iOS that allows users to create music or podcasts. Its music and podcast creation system enables users to create multiple tracks with pre-made MIDI keyboards, pre-made loops, an array of various instrumental effects, and voice recordings.
